All About Costa Rica
Costa Rica is a Central American success story: since the late 19th century, only two brief periods of violence have marred its democratic development. Although still a largely agricultural country, it has expanded its economy to include strong technology and tourism sectors. The standard of living is relatively high. Land ownership is widespread. It's location is in Central America, bordering both the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, and in between Nicaragua and Panama. In comparison its slightly smaller than West Virginia. The climate here is tropical and subtropical; dry season (December to April); rainy season (May to November); cooler in highlands. It's literacy rate is over 96%, better than any other country in Central America, and most in Latin-American. And about the same as in the USA.
The people of Costa Rica pride ourselves for being honest, hardworking people, with honest religious (Christian Catholic majority) principles and very proud of their country. That's why the final verses of our national anthem say "viva siempre el trabajo y la paz" which means "let work and peace reign forever". Lastly it is said that where there is a "tico" (local word to use instead of costarican) there is freedom, because this is such a peaceful and pacific country.
