Q. Are you Travel Agents and can you book Hotels and Flights for us?
A. No way San Jose on the Flights. Today many people are Booking their own flights and Hotels though any number of Discount Travel Websites online...that's what we do for our personal travel too. So, if you don't do it the old fashioned way, through a Travel Agent Professional, then we suggest you try Booking it on your own, as you will find those sites are designed to be very 'user friendly'. As for Hotel Accommodations we would be happy to make a reservation for you or at the least recommend some of our favorites...from charming Boutique style Hotels to the Big Name chains that you are familiar with.
Q. How do we decide what to see in San Jose?
A. Good question. We've done our best to take the guesswork out of that part for you. We give you two options here...you can rely on us and one of our 'unique' single-day tours...or...you can allow us to design one tailored to your interests. We do not offer the multi-day, river rafting, rainforest, coastline tours that many associate with visiting Costa Rica. We dig a little deeper, to provide what San Jose and surrounding areas offer...from local street markets, volcanoes and biological parks, to churches and museums and out of the way 'local' restaurants. Check out the links we've provided from the 'Costa Rica Info' icon on our 'Home Sweet Home' page to help you decide what you want to see and let us know. The links also contain valuable information on Weather, Immigration, Investments and Foreign Travel, etc.
Q. How do we contact you?
A. Our 'Boy Wonder' web-builder has provided a 'Talk to Us' page with the link on our websites 'Home' page to directly correspond with us here at excursions plus. You can also reach us on the following two alternate email addresses with... excursionsplus@racsa.co.cr or creativediversions@racsa.co.cr Be assured that your information will remain 100% confidential and processed for our use only, and never given to any other service. Your information is requested so that we may better tailor our services to you.
Q. Why only Single-Day tours?
A. Because we think you'll be tired of us after one afternoon...not really. Our research has shown that there are plenty of other Tour companies that 'herd' their clients from one attraction to another. Our goal is treat you like 'family'...minus the dysfunction! It gives us the flexibility to alter the tour based on your desires, more time here, less time there. For the same reason we limit the number of clients to (2) two, not counting (2) two children. We don't want you to be the one in the back hearing every third word. We enjoy being right there with you. We are most happy to take several days touring with you as well if you want a more leisurely pace, as many of our Senior Clients prefer.
Q. How do we book a Tour or Airport Meet 'n' Greet?
A. Start by clicking the 'Talk To Us' link at the top and bottom of our 'Home Sweet Home' page. Send us a message. We aren't like some of your friends who never seem to answer their emails. We respond as soon as we receive your message. In the 'How do we Contact You' question above we provide you with two alternative email addresses...so that makes three ways to reach us. After we determine your needs, we will send you a 'Confirmation' email with all the details of your plans. If you would prefer we can fax you a hard copy as well.
Q. What if we only want the Airport Meet 'n' Greet part of your services?
A. That works for us. "Why choose Excursions Plus over a taxi?" you're probably asking yourself? First, there is no need for resurrecting your High School Spanish 101. We speak five languages beautifully. Unlike the taxi vultures, we are waiting for you with an embarrassing 'your name here' sign when you exit the terminal from Customs. From the moment we greet you, we give you a brief orientation as we transport you to your Hotel. We can provide you with basic information about the City and we will do our best to make you feel 'welcome'. We will also confirm at that time your Hotel Pick-Up for your departure, and provide you with contact numbers to reach us, should you require our services once you're settled.
Q. How do we dress?
A. One pant leg at a time...seriously though, it's important for you to know that because of its geographic location, the weather is changeable. If it's the coasts you seek, it can be very hot and humid much of the year. If it's San Jose and surrounding areas mainly, the median weather year-round is in the 70's (23 C) It is a country of 'micro-climates', so bring a variety of options...after all 'variety' is the spice of life!
Q. Is it safe to drink the water and eat the food, and SAFE in general?
A. No kidding on this one, we've actually been asked this from our clients. Contrary to popular myth and a questionable reputation about Central America, the water is perfectly delicious and safe, and the food the same in Costa Rica. As for personal safety, we don't take you into those 'questionable' areas of town (every town has them) Not saying that you shouldn't apply the same precautions you would traveling anywhere, even in your native country. For those of you still unconvinced about the water and food, bottled water is available everywhere, and we only recommend eateries that we have experienced ourselves. So Eat!, and don't wander off!
Q. How do we pay for your Service?
A. Our first choice is for you to designate us as 'Executor to your Estate'? But if that option doesn't work for you...like many other services, we prefer cash payment. Due to overly complicated banking procedures in Costa Rica, we absolutely CANNOT accept personal checks, and Travelers Checks are almost as foreign, therefore we would appreciate either Colones or US Currency please. There are a plethora of ATM machines available everywhere around the city and in most Hotels.
Q. Do you have a Cancellation Policy?
A. You bet your colones we do, but it's a simple one! We put a lot of time and care into planning our part of your visit. We ask that out of courtesy to us, that you send us a cancellation email within 5 days of your visit. It's the right thing to do.
Q. Why Excursions Plus again?
A. We know that often traveling can be stressful, as can visiting any foreign country and trying to see what gives a place the 'heart & soul' that is often missed while visiting there. That is what makes our Service so unique, and what gives us our greatest satisfaction...Insuring that you leave Costa Rica with the most positive Travel experience that we are capable of providing, and memories that will last you your lifetime. We strive to put an accent on the Cultural aspects of your visit, as opposed to the environmental aspects ...as we believe our approach leaves a deeper knowledge of the heart of Costa Rica. By the way, we can arrange certain eco-interest tours for you on this end once you've arrived. But, we take pride in establishing a different approach to sharing the riches of Costa Rica, and is what separates us from what we hope will raise the standard for the others.
